It is without a doubt that no other fashion house does Haute Couture like Chanel. The attention to detail in a Chanel show – from the hand-made clothes to the sets – is unparallel to any other in the industry. Every Haute Couture show by the fashion house transports the spectator to an extravagant fantasy world. A world that only Chanel is able to bring to life, and where the outfits gliding on the runway blend seamlessly with the environment. And, for the Spring-Summer 2019 Haute Couture show, the fashion house transported its models and guests to a Mediterranean country-side villa within the Grand Palais in Paris.

As the models stepped out of the terracotta-colored villa, they walked out into a perfectly recreated 18th-century garden. At its center was a pool circled by the runway, which in turn was surrounded by towering cypress trees. The models walked the runway in the expected, but always mesmerizing Chanel Haute Couture masterpieces. Iconic metallic tweed, flower jewels, Desrues feathers, and floral details took center stage for this collection. Flowers were everywhere – from ceramic ones to preserved real flowers – all magically worked into the outfits by the Métiers d’art ateliers under the guidance of mastermind, Karl Lagerfeld. – GM
