Paying homage to the foundation of its identity and the spirit of travel, Louis Vuitton took over the TWA Flight Center at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (closed to visitors for almost 20 years) to showcase their new collection for Cruise 2020. Designed by the Louis Vuitton Women’s Collections Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, the collection features a series of looks that are not only an ode to the excitement of taking on a journey, but also compliment perfectly the “Jet Age” futurist design style inspired by space exploration. This same design style was also the inspiration behind the architectural design of the TWA Flight Center.

For the collection, Nicolas Ghesquière sought to create a dialogue between New York City and Paris, referencing the first trans-Atlantic flight that brought the Parisian brand to NYC. The looks also make reference to New York City’s underground fashion, the Wall Street uniform, and the elegance of couture culture in Paris. The legendary buildings of New York City are represented in intricate prints, embroideries, and brocades, with acid and lively colors recalling the vibrant lights of the city that never sleeps.

The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020 collection also highlights multiple prototypes of classic LV bags which feature OLED screens with the ability to display moving images. – GM
