During this New York Fashion Week A/W 2019, designer Cho Cho Cheng showcased his new collection for his womenswear brand, CHOCHENG. The collection is a nod to classic and impeccable British tailoring, with all garments being hand sewn in London following traditional Savile Row techniques, and knitwear and accessories made in Italy.
CHOCHENG is synonymous with a playful take on British style; one much appreciated by its discerning clientele around the world. In this collection, the menswear-inpired sophisticated looks feature shoulder pads, embroidered buttons, and decorative silk petals handmade from natural materials, and sustainable European fabrics -another trademark of the brand. The hand made Scottish cashmere tweed jackets and coats are half lined in the manner of traditional sports jackets, while pencil skirts dominated the runway. An interesting detail is the hand-ruched tulle used throughout the collection to add structure and volume, while replacing fur and remaining cruelty free. The collection is strong on day looks that express a sense of comfort, while the evening looks showcase CHOCHENG’s reputation and attention for craftsmanship. – GM
