New York based designer, Mark Gong, is still a student at Parsons: The New School. However, he founded his eponymous label Mark Gong Studio in 2015, and during this past NYFW A/W 2019, he showcased a collection that mirrored the expertise of seasoned designers. As a student, Gong has managed to create 4 seasons of ready to wear collections, while also growing his business, and creating a buzz all over the fashion industry.
The runway show, which was held at Industria, featured a collection inspired by Western style, and comfort. The collection was both feminine and graceful, showcasing the unconventional woman Gong designs for. The cowboy hat was the accessory of choice, and it surely complimented the leather coats, and patch dresses with dancing silloutes reminiscent of a more sophisticated wild wild west. – GM
