On February 13th, 2019, we visited the Jane Hotel where Sienna Li showcased her Fall/winter 2019 collection “Polarity” during New York Fashion Week. The designer drew inspiration from the industrial change during the first decades of the 20th century, when women entered the workforce dominated by men. During this era, women had the polarity of wearing gowns with full, puffed sleeves at night, while also being factory workers during the day time, and wearing clothes that could be considered more masculine in style.
Sienna Li is the kind of designer who distills classic romance into a modern sensibility, creating pieces that are both imaginative and graceful. A trademark of the designer, this Fall/Winter 2019 collection implements luxury fabrics, together with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship. Playful details include costume beads and buttons, and a rebellious combination of animal and whimsical prints. – GM
