New York City, NY. – Tadashi Shoji is a Japanese designer who resides in the United States. Passionate about art from a young age, Tadashi was an assistant to the contemporary artist Jiro Takamatsu before moving to the United States. Here, he began his career in fashion design working for designers Bill Whitten and Richard Blackwell.
Tadashi launched his brand in 1982, establishing a new category of evening wear by combining couture techniques with masterful engineering and the use of stretch fabrics. His A-list clientele includes First Lady Michelle Obama, Octavia Spencer, Kate Hudson, Paris Jackson, Demi Lovato, Miranda Kerr, Lea Michele, Sofia Richie, Kaley Cuoco, and Anna Kendrick. In addition to ready-to-wear and a kid’s collections, the Tadashi Shoji brand also offers intimates, leather goods, shapewear, fragrances, as well as a bridal collection.
