New York City, NY. – For their New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2020 runway show, Phillip Blond, and David Blond turned to religious icons and symbols for inspiration. As per tradition, Phillipe Blond opened the event, wearing a bejeweled catsuit and a crown of thorns after Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” blasted from the speakers throughout the packed venue.
The fashion power duo, favored by multiple celebrities for their dazzling costumes, have mastered the runway experience, putting on one of the most exhilarating and coveted shows year after year during New York Fashion Week. This season, to pay tribute to their Latin heritage, the designers enlisted Mexican singer Gloria Trevi, Dominican singer Natti Natasha and the Dominican model Jillian Mercado.
We must admit that seeing fellow Latinos and Dominicans on the runway was quite an exciting moment for us. But, most importantly, seeing Jillian Mercado (a motivation to millions across the world) achieve her dream as a runway model was simply inspiring. It filled us with joy and pride for her, and for the many silent voices she makes a stand for. – GM
