New York City – During this New York Fashion Week, dozens of fashion aficionados, celebrities, and the Guild Magazine Team were welcomed to the world of Alice + Olivia: a modern, psychedelic, and bohemian field of dreams. Root Studios in Manhattan was transformed into a series of nine impressive, vibrant sets, each showcasing a realm of the Alice + Olivia Spring Summer 2020 collection.
Models posed and interacted with each other, and the crowd, in a field of lilac saturated flowers, a retro green kitchen, and laid leisurely by a bright yellow pool. Each of the sets allowed for the tailored and embroidered looks to stand out, and shine against the surroundings.
“When the colors are right in a space you exhale and tune into your own interior,” Bendet said. “I dream in color, and these rooms are fashion dreams come to life.”
The collection featured dramatic new shapes anchored by strong pants, a nod to the trouser core of Alice + Olivia’s brand identity. Dramatic, sleeves, legs, and skirts instill traditional sportswear with a couture touch. Some of the garments in the collection also feature the exquisite floral prints and finely embroidered details Alice + Olivia is recognized for.
The Spring Summer 2020 collection also introduced an exclusive collaboration between Alice + olivia and Murder Bravado’s designer Everard Best. The designer has quickly become a star in the world of fashion, thanks to his unique style of hand-embroidered, dyed, and distressed denim. Best had before collaborated with Virgil Abloh, Heron Preston, and Mr. Porter. “This is an opportunity to work with one of the foremost American womenswear designers in the industry,” Best shared excitedly about this collaboration with Stacey Bendet.
During the event, Best and his team painted pieces for the collection in front of the mesmerized crowd, which included Sofia Richie, Paris and Nicky Hilton. “There is a sense of newness and methodology to his designs that is incredibly exciting to me, and a mutual appreciation of color that translates beautifully into this collaboration,” shared Bendet about the project. The rainbow looks artfully created during the event are to be sold in Alice + Olivia stores and retailers worldwide. – GM
