The fragile but strong interaction that exists between light and dark, like a romantic but aggressive friction, is one of the highlights of the Fall/Winter 2019 Prada Men’s and Women’s show, captured by Willy Vanderperre in the “Electricromance” reportage. The collection is both distilled and recontextualized in both photography and moving imagery.
Inspired and evocative of the dramatic elements implemented in the show (a set composed of bare concrete walls, large light-bulbs, and foam-padded spikes), the cast of models pose and turn through a monochrome panorama, resembling images taken from a science fiction film.
The photoshoot is poetic but without nostalgia, shifting our focus with close-ups and long shots that animate the outfits and their intimate details. The color palette is well-defined, its colors heightened against the darkness. – GM
