New York City – Photographer Willy Vanderperre captured Prada’s Resort 2020 collection in preparation for the runway show presented this May 2019. His talent in film and photography helped to showcase the rhythmic movements and strong attitudes of the models as they walked through the converted Piano Factory in New York City. In his photography, polished pink columns stand out against the strong concrete setting, with changing perspectives and angles, and warped lens effects all adding to present an alternative view of the familiar but rebellious simplicity of the collection.

This resort collection showcases a reinterpretation of various Prada classics, proposing an unexpected means of subversion, elegance as sedition. Its focus revolves around the subject of intimacy, drawing attention to details. Patterns in this collection include simple checks and pinstripes, and minimalistic floral prints. The color palette is subdued with navy, pale shades of blue, and multichromatic tonal hues taking the main stage.

For this collection, Prada redesigned its twenty-first-century classic: the Prada Bowling Bag. First introduced as part of the Spring/Summer 2000 ‘Sincere Chic’ collection, the iconic back is now reintroduced to the world with only a few of these exclusive bags being offered for sale. – GM
