New York City, NY, USA – This past week, the Guild Team was invited to an exclusive, intimate event at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Those in attendance got to enjoy afternoon tea, champagne, and pastry delicacies by the renowned Executive Pastry Chef of the Plaza Hotel, Matthew Lambie, at the ELLE DÉCOR Café. The pop-up cafe experience (opened until March 31st) is a contemporary reimagining of the iconic Plaza Rose Club in celebration of Elle Decor’s 30th anniversary.

The talented interior designer Sasha Bikoff has brought the place to vibrant life by accentuating the historical interior of the bar with the stylish and elegant furniture of the ELLE DÉCOR 2020 Collection. Bikoff, who is known for implementing the multicultural aspects of New York City into her designs, has created a picture-perfect space. The focal point of the cafe is an original wall fabric by the interior designer called “uptown toile.” The toile, printed with hundreds of female figures, is representative of the Elle brand and its dedication to women and their empowerment since the launch of Elle Magazine over 70 years ago.

Earlier this year, ELLE DÉCOR held a competition commemorating the publication’s 30th anniversary. The contest called for a piece of furniture from a collection of pieces to be featured in the magazine. Architect Emir Polat was the winner with his collection “La Pausa,” which is being showcased at the pop-up and will be available for purchase in Spring 2020 together with the rest of the collection.

During the event, Eva Platini, Director of Licensing Americas for ELLE DÉCOR Collection, told us: “The ELLE DÉCOR Cafe is chic and pristine, and speaks to our collection and the ELLE brand.” While discussing some of the pieces being showcased at the cafe and the history behind the ELLE brand and the Plaza Hotel, she continued, “It is an honor to partner with such an iconic hotel in New York to showcase our products from the collection and offer a new expression of our brand.”

The ELLE DÉCOR Cafe is opened from 4 PM to midnight, during which time guests are able to enjoy a variety of activities such as high tea and cocktails. The ELLE DÉCOR 2020 Collection will be available for purchase at Macy’s and – GM
