Sydney, Australia – Now through June 15th, 2019, Sydney, Australia will be covered by a blanket of special effects during its annual festival of light and colors, Vivid Sydney. This breathtaking and immersive event is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, transforming Sydney into a big stage where light, color, and creative ideas dance to the rhythm of the musical performances held all across the city.

Vivid Sydney is not only a key event for Sydney, but also for the rest of the New South Wale state. Millions of people are drawn to the festival during the months of May and June. Many of these visitors go on to visit the rest of the regional state, attracted by the pristine beaches, and national parks found in this part of Australia. Due to its increasing popularity, one that saw a record 2.25 million attendees last year, it is ideal to plan your trip in advance, taking advantage of the travel offers provided by hotels, and which sell out fast!

Being held at the beginning of Winter in Australia, the festival is the perfect opportunity to light up the season, allowing locals and tourists alike to explore the many restaurants, street food attractions, and shopping experiences found throughout this pragmatic city. It also offers a fun opportunity to spend a great time with your loved ones!

Over 100 artists and collaborators from 17 countries have made this festival possible. This year, the event started at the world-famous Sydney Opera House. The Lighting of the Sails featured a mesmerizing tribute to Australia’s native plants. The projection was created by LA-based artist Andrew Thomas Huang and is only one amongst the more than 50 light projections and installations to be found across eight Sydney districts including Barangaroo, Luna Park, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Chatswood, Circular Quay, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Taronga Zoo. – GM
